Parking Information

The entire top floor of parking lot #22 is reserved exclusively for the BIC/BIS event. There will be a sign that states parking for the 'UC Systemwide Symposium on BioEngineering' is on the top floor. There will be no need to log into the permit system and register your vehicle. Parking services will NOT cite any cars on the top floor from 8/8-8/10. There will be several directional signs from Lot #22 to Corwin. A map of the path from Lot #22 to Corwin is provided below for convenience.

UCSB Santa Rosa Residence Hall (oceanfront)

Located 5' walk from the meeting venue and 2' to the beach. Room rates include parking near dorms, hot buffet breakfast each morning, and buffet dinner on Sunday night only. Single or shared dorm room accommodations are available. Shared dorm rooms may only be booked if you know who will share your room at the time of registration. Shared hallway bathrooms.

Best Western South Coast

Located 10-15 minutes by car from UCSB, off the 101 freeway. High-speed Internet, full hot breakfast. UCSB vans will run a shuttle 30' before and after the meeting.

The 22nd Annual UC Systemwide Symposium on Bioengineering and Biotechnology Industry Showcase will be hosted by University of California, Santa Barbara. All talks and events will be held at the Corwin Pavilion and nearby outdoor locations on campus.

UCSB is located a few minutes north of the city of Santa Barbara, only 92 miles north of Los Angeles. With the recently improved Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) just next door to the campus, UCSB is easy to reach by air.

Clothing:  Santa Barbara is a coastal community, which means the temperatures can vary greatly throughout the day. Other than the sessions, meals and other activities will be held outdoors, so plan ahead with “layers”.

Bring your Drivers License to the conference registration! We are now required to do an ID check whenever alcohol is served at an event on campus, and we are required to distribute wristbands to be worn if you are age 21 or over.   Please bring your ID – wristbands will be available to you each day.

UCSB is 12 miles north of downtown Santa Barbara. Come for the Symposium and take time before or after the meeting to Discover the American Riviera.
